BEWITCHED: A Houston witch is asking for $3 million in damages from a Unitarian church whose members she says harassed her when she refused to teach them Wiccan rituals. According to the Houston Chronicle, Mary LeBlanc's suit charges that though she "repeatedly" explained that the Wicca "are not feminists and do not encourage same-sex worship," Unitarian church members came to her house to try to infiltrate Wiccan meetings. The unkindest cut of all, she alleges, happened when the Unitarians started referring to her unflatteringly as "a humpbacked, toothless, redneck hillbilly witch."

SEASON'S GREETINGS: You've heard of Christmas in July? Well, a Miami mom is planning for "Fourth of July in January." Launched by Amy Zambrano, the aim is to raise scholarship money for the children of those killed in the 9/11 attacks. A thousand schoolchildren are already selling raffle tickets. The party begins Jan. 26 with a patriotic barbecue at a Coral Gables home where guests will bid on gifts ranging from an Andy Garcia autographed photo to an afternoon on a yacht.
