Political Diary Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Q: What is Political Diary?

A: It is a subscription e-mail newsletter from OpinionJournal.com. It is written by OpinionJournal.com editors and contributors and will be sent Monday through Friday, excluding holidays. It will be sent midday, Eastern Time, pending breaking news.

Q: Why is there a separate fee for the newsletter -- why isn’t it covered by my WSJ.com/WSJ print subscription?

A: Political Diary is an e-mail publication from The Wall Street Journal that provides exclusive content that won’t be available on WSJ.com or The Wall Street Journal. Since it’s a separate, value-added publication it is charged separately.

Q: How much does it cost?

$3.95 per month. You will be billed monthly on the date of your subscription or until you cancel your subscription.

Q: Can I get a discount if I’m a WSJ.com/print WSJ subscriber?

A: We’re offering Political Diary at a very low monthly fee so all interested readers can subscribe. Therefore, we aren’t able to offer discounts.

Q: Can I subscribe for a full year?

A: We are just offering monthly subscriptions. Since you will continue to receive the newsletter until you cancel your subscription, you don’t need to worry about missing an issue.

Q: Can I get a refund if I cancel in the middle of my billing cycle?

A: No. You will be billed the full $3.95 and will continue to receive the newsletter until the end of your current monthly billing cycle.

Q: Why do I have to provide my credit card information? Can’t you get it from my WSJ.com/WSJ print account?

A: Political Diary is on a system that is separate from WSJ.com and The Wall Street Journal, which is why we need to get your account information when you subscribe. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Q: Can I access Political Diary online?

No, the newsletter is available only by e-mail. OpinionJournal.com will only carry summaries of that day's newsletter.

Q: When will I start getting the newsletter once I subscribe?

A: You will get the next version of the newsletter. So, depending on the time of day you subscribe, you may get that day's newsletter, or the next day's newsletter. The newsletter will go out about midday Eastern time.

Q: Can I get the newsletter in HTML? Plain Text?

A: Yes, both options are available. You can select your preference when you subscribe, and you can change your original selection if necessary.

Q: How do I cancel my account?

A: Go to the cancel subscription page and enter your email address and password. (If you have forgotten your password, this page also includes a link for retrieving your password.)

Q: I need a receipt. Will I receive one when I subscribe?

A: A receipt will be e-mailed to you when you subscribe.

Q: Can I give a subscription to Political Diary as a gift?

A: Yes, when you subscribe, just enter the e-mail address of the personal who will be receiving the newsletter. However, you may want to receive the welcome e-mail, which includes a summary of your billing information, although not your actual credit card number. In that case, sign up using your email address, then change the address to the gift recipient's at this page after you have received the welcome e-mail: https://secure.djnewsletters.com/OJ/OJAccount.aspx
