With "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" firing up a second J.R.R. Tolkien film trilogy, auction houses and collectibles sellers are seizing the moment. They're offering relics related to the books, the first set of Peter Jackson films and "The Hobbit" movie, which opened Friday.
On Nov. 13 at Bonhams in London, a first edition of "The Hobbit" smashed through its upper estimate of about $3,225 and sold for $12,100; 14 days later at Christie's in London, another first edition fetched $26,065, well above its upper estimate of $9,612.
